About Sydney Professional Development Forum
Success in our careers is not simply a matter that can be learnt purely from textbooks at school. The modern day workplace demands a range of skills beyond technical proficiency, rather it is a combination of experience, political acumen, having the right contacts as well as taking some calculated risks.
What we aim to achieve at PDF is to generate a network that provides us with valuable learnings from senior mentors, as well as peers that can provide some first-hand information across different industries. We recognise the value of a trusted network and seek to create one where our members can help each other along this journey.
We hope to achieve this through monthly forums that includes an informal networking session. Each month the forum is headlined by a respected senior manager or subject expert to lead the discussion and provide pearls of wisdom, as well as feedback/discussion from the audience to explore the issue in more detail. Each month we aim to find a speaker in a different role/industry to give us to a wide range of views and open us up to different possibilities in achieving career success.
The goal of the forum is not to provide the definitive answer, there is no ‘silver bullet’ as such which will be the solution to all our problems. Rather, the forum aims to provide different perspectives for the participant to take away with.
“Investing in a network of tomorrow’s leaders… Today!”
We aim to help our member network achieve their career goals. The investment is made before they become highly successful so that the relationship is a solid one that can be leveraged over time. This is in line with our philosophy that if you maintain good relationships over a long period of time, your contact will come through for you in the time of need.
The true value of this network comes from the individual bonds between our members. We aim to foster strong, meaningful personal relationships that could potentially last a lifetime. The more interconnected our members are, the more valuable and powerful this network would become.
